What exists to study AI and digital marketing in Panama
In Panama, digital marketing and data analytics can be studied through formal programs at local universities, and artificial intelligence appears mostly as a subject inside those programs. On the official pages Radar reviewed on November 6, 2026, no master’s with “Artificial Intelligence” in its name appeared in the graduate offer of the Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá (UTP) or in the master’s list of the Universidad de Panamá. An AI subject did appear inside the Master’s in Business Analytics at Quality Leadership University (QLU).
The Universidad de Panamá announced an Artificial Intelligence degree, according to La Prensa in a July 19, 2026 report. The newspaper gives no opening date, approval timeline or enrollment details, so for now it is an announcement and not an offer anyone can apply to.
Programs Radar opened
The table includes only programs whose official page Radar opened. It carries no prices or tuition figures, because they change and the institution is the right place to ask. Small private academies and paid platform courses are not linked either.
| Institution | Type | Program | Official link |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quality Leadership University | Master’s | Master’s in Digital Marketing and Social Media, 100% online | Program page |
| Quality Leadership University | Master’s | Master’s in Business Analytics, with a subject called Artificial Intelligence and Analytics for Managers | Program page |
| Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá | Master’s | Master’s in Data Analytics, in the Faculty of Computer Systems Engineering | Faculty master’s and graduate programs |
| Universidad de Panamá | Master’s | Master’s in Strategic Marketing and International Trade and Master’s in Computer Science | Master’s list |
| INADEH | Technical courses | Computing and programming courses, such as Programming Fundamentals and Basic JavaScript | Information and Communication Technology area |
| IFARHU | Scholarships | General Scholarship Contest and international calls | IFARHU calls |
Two notes on what was opened. The INADEH page lists no artificial intelligence or digital marketing courses, only computing and programming. And the QLU digital marketing master’s page shows 13 modules, including SEO, search advertising, web analytics and a digital marketing plan, although the text mentions 9 modules elsewhere; the exact number is worth confirming with the university.
Myth: an AI course guarantees a job
The myth circulates in ads that present a short course as a direct door to a position. The idea is appealing because AI is in the news every day.
Reality: the official pages of the programs opened describe content, hours and degree, not job placement. QLU’s digital marketing master’s details its modules and the degree it grants, and the Business Analytics page details its subjects and a 15-month length; neither page, as far as Radar read, sets out an employment commitment. On which jobs AI changes and what universities are missing, Radar has a separate conversation: Néstor Romero answers: which jobs AI changes first in Panama and what universities are missing. It stays here as related reading; this article does not summarize what is said there.
Myth: you must know how to code to work with AI
The idea is that without code there is no way in, so any course gets dismissed.
Reality: it depends on the program. QLU’s digital marketing master’s lists modules on SEO, social media, e-commerce and web analytics, with no programming subject among the 13 shown. The Master’s in Business Analytics, by contrast, includes Python Programming among its subjects, and INADEH offers Programming Fundamentals and JavaScript as courses of their own. The practical conclusion is that programming is required in data-oriented programs and not in marketing ones. According to Aarón Gómez in his interview with Radar on AI and content for small businesses, what sustains the use of AI in a business is human checking of what the tool produces, a task that needs no coding.
Myth: a certificate equals experience
It is heard in promotions that offer “certification” as a substitute for having worked on the subject.
Reality: a degree or certificate shows that a program was completed; experience is shown through work done. This distinction is Radar’s own judgment, not a data point from a source. It matters when comparing: QLU’s master’s states that the university grants the degree and cites Resolution CTF-42-2016, while a short course without institutional backing lacks that verifiable detail. In the same interview, Aarón Gómez proposes a two-hour weekly routine: one hour drafting with AI from real customer questions, half an hour of checking and half an hour of publishing. That routine produces something a certificate does not, which is a visible track record.
Myth: AI scholarships can be requested any time
It is often repeated that writing to an institution is enough to receive an artificial intelligence scholarship.
Reality: scholarships are requested within a call that has dates. The IFARHU 2026 scholarship calendar shows that registration for the General Scholarship Contest ran from January 12 to 23 and document submission from April 20 to May 22; both had ended by the consultation date, November 6, 2026, and the calendar does not mention artificial intelligence. Among IFARHU’s international calls, Radar found none that names AI explicitly. The SENACYT open calls page listed no call at the time of the visit.
One program has a recent announcement. Telemetro reported on July 28, 2026 that Talent Up Panamá offers 10 thousand scholarships in artificial intelligence, data analysis, cybersecurity and cloud computing, with registration through the Panamá Conecta platform. The report does not state requirements or deadline, and Radar did not find an official page for the program, so its validity should be confirmed on Panamá Conecta or the accounts of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
| Myth | Reality | Source |
|---|---|---|
| An AI course guarantees a job | Program pages describe content and degree, not job placement | QLU |
| You must know how to code | It depends: yes in data analytics, no in the digital marketing master’s | QLU |
| A certificate equals experience | It shows a program was completed; experience is shown through work | Aarón’s interview |
| Scholarships can be requested any time | They are requested within a call that has dates | IFARHU |
| The Universidad de Panamá already has an AI degree | It was announced, with no opening date | La Prensa |
How to choose a program
Five points allow an orderly comparison, and each can be checked on the official page:
- Syllabus: named modules or subjects. A list of vague topics weighs less than a list of modules.
- Instructors: who teaches and what background they have.
- Practice: a project, workshop or final work with real cases. QLU’s Master’s in Business Analytics ends with a Graduation Project.
- Recognized certification: who grants the degree and under which resolution or institutional backing.
- Schedule and format: in person, hybrid or online, and whether it fits a work schedule. QLU’s Master’s in Business Analytics holds in-person classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Anyone starting with digital marketing can read first Aarón Gómez answers: where a Panamanian small business with a tight budget should start digital marketing, which sets priorities before paying for training.
Practical steps
- Define the goal: working with data and models, or applying AI and marketing in a business. That decides whether programming is needed.
- Open the official page of each candidate program and note syllabus, hours, format and who grants the degree.
- Compare using the five points from the previous section and discard what cannot be verified.
- Ask the institution what the page does not say: start dates, admission requirements and costs.
- Check scholarship calls at IFARHU and SENACYT and confirm the date before preparing documents.
- Practice while studying with a short, verified routine, and keep what is produced as a work sample.

Frequently asked questions
Where can someone study artificial intelligence in Panama?
On the official pages reviewed, AI appears as a subject inside data programs, such as QLU’s Master’s in Business Analytics, and not as a standalone master’s. The Universidad de Panamá announced an Artificial Intelligence degree with no published opening date.
Are there artificial intelligence scholarships in Panama?
Telemetro reported on July 28, 2026 on Talent Up Panamá, with 10 thousand scholarships and registration through Panamá Conecta. Radar found no official program page and no AI calls in the IFARHU calendars checked on November 6.
Is programming needed to study AI?
It depends on the program. Data analytics includes programming, for example Python in QLU’s Master’s in Business Analytics, while QLU’s digital marketing master’s lists modules without programming.
What is the difference between a course, a diploma program and a master’s?
The difference is depth and credential. A course covers one specific topic, a diploma program groups several topics, and a master’s is a graduate degree with credits and a university title. QLU’s digital marketing master’s, for example, states a load of 47 academic credits.
What should a good digital marketing course include?
It should show a syllabus with named modules, instructors, practice with real cases, who grants the certification and the schedule. A program that covers SEO, search advertising, social media and web analytics offers a more complete base.
