Cinema: week by week

In Panama, Hollywood films open on Thursdays, one day before the United States, and distributors usually set a single date for all of Latin America. The first two rows of the table already appear in the Cinemark Panama listings; the rest correspond to the date announced by the distributor for the region, which Panama usually matches. It is worth checking each cinema’s listings in the week of release.

Two names that were expected in October do not appear in the region’s calendars: Terrifier 4 and 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, neither of which has a confirmed Latin America date. The big year-end releases, Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three, already have a date in Panama: 17 December, one day before the United States, according to Cinemark; the details are in Radar Panamá’s guide to the most anticipated film releases of the rest of the year.

The four essentials of the month

Digger (1 October)

Tom Cruise, unrecognisable under prosthetics, plays an oil magnate who causes an environmental disaster and sells himself as a saviour. It is Iñárritu’s first film since Bardo and has split the critics, which is exactly what makes it the talking point of the month.

Street Fighter (15 October)

Ryu and Ken are recruited by Chun-Li for the World Warrior tournament in 1993. Jason Momoa, 50 Cent and wrestlers Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes round out the cast; it is the month’s biggest expected box-office draw and the best excuse for an IMAX screen.

Clayface (22 October)

DC goes for body horror with the origin of Gotham’s villain: a disfigured actor who turns into living clay. It is the Halloween film of the year and, with the 31st falling on a Saturday, it lands in the ideal week.

Klara and the Sun (22 October)

Taika Waititi adapts the novel by Nobel laureate Kazuo Ishiguro, with Jenna Ortega as an “artificial friend” looking for a home. A drama with Amy Adams and Steve Buscemi for anyone who wants something different in Clayface week.

Streaming: what arrives on each platform

Platform dates are those announced for Latin America and apply to Panama, with one usual caveat: global releases on Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV+ go live at 2:00 a.m. Panama time on the stated day, and some Disney+ launches appear the night before.

Quotable fact: between cinema and streaming, October 2026 adds up to 30 releases with confirmed dates for Panama and Latin America: 11 in theatres and 19 on the five major platforms, with the week of 22 October as the busiest (Clayface, Klara and the Sun, Nobody Wants This, Lupin, The Terminal List and Where’s Wanda? in five days).

One clarification about Crystal Lake, the Friday the 13th prequel that several outlets place on HBO Max: in Latin America it is distributed by Universal+ from 16 October, so it is not in the table. And for anyone following the creators who launch on platforms, Radar Panamá published its ranking of Panama’s creators and streamers with the biggest audiences.
