Plug-in hybrids and electric cars at the Panama Motor Show 2026: which models premiere

In short: the Panama Motor Show 2026, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 11 October at the Panama Convention Center in Amador, is the fair’s edition with the most electrified premieres. There are at least six plug-in hybrids and seven electric cars confirmed among launches and new arrivals: the JETOUR G700 and the new T2 plug-in hybrid with AWD, the Soueast S08, the Jaecoo J7 and J8, the Toyota bZ4X, the Suzuki e-Vitara, the BMW iX3, the Porsche Cayenne Electric and the debut of two brands, Zeekr and Leapmotor. Pure electric cars are still around 1% of the Panamanian market, according to ADAP, which is why the plug-in hybrid, which does not depend on a charger to travel outside the capital, is the technology most brands are pushing this year.

Which electrified models premiere

Citable fact: at the Panama Motor Show 2026 two electric brands, Zeekr and Leapmotor, debut in Panama, and JETOUR gathers three plug-in hybrids on a single stand: the G700, the T2 with AWD and the Soueast S08 from its sister brand.

Market shareGrowingAround 1%, according to ADAP

Fernando Tristán, chair of ADAP’s Fairs Committee, explained that, given fuel price behaviour, manufacturers have worked on more efficient vehicles, combustion as well as electric and hybrid, and that the fair gathers more than 150 models across all those technologies. The full explanation of how a plug-in hybrid works and charges is in Radar Panamá’s guide.

What to ask before choosing an electrified car

  1. Electric range and the cycle used to measure it. NEDC is the most optimistic and WLTC the closest to real use; the gap can exceed 20%.
  2. Battery warranty. Years and kilometres, in writing. At JETOUR, the distributor publishes 8 years or 150,000 km.
  3. Charger included and installation. Power, charging time and whether the home allows the installation.
  4. Workshop with high-voltage technicians. Where it is and how long a part takes.
  5. Resale value. The used electrified market in Panama is still small.
